School History
The
scenery and history of Whale Branch campus play an important role in
the education of our students. Our school is built on the former
Rouplemond Plantation which is one of the most historic sites in the
area. Rouplemond, an antebellum indigo, rice and cotton plantation has
the distinction of having the only slave settlement with a privy ever
found in the southeast. An archaeological dig was conducted by the
Chicora Foundation prior to the school.
