Our History
The scenery and history of the Whale Branch campus play an important role in the education of our students. Our school is built on the former Roupelmond Plantation which is one of the most historic sites in the area. Roupelmond, an antebellum indigo, rice and cotton plantation, has the distinction of being the only slave settlement that had a privy ever found in the southeast. An archaeological dig was conducted by the Chicora Foundation prior to the school.
